There’s a lot I would give for a piece of bread right now.

So I was in my hairdresser’s chair yesterday, and she asked, “Made any New Year’s resolutions this year?”I replied, “No.  I never make resolutions.  I’m would just be setting myself up for failure.”

We both laughed and she said, “Well last year I didn’t make any resolutions, my whole life got crazy, and I gained 10 pounds!  I think I need resolutions.”

So as she was turning my head into a beacon for extra-terrestrial communication I realized that I gained 10 pounds too last year. I also had gained 5 the year before, and 5 the year before that one, and 5 more the year before that one.  And you know what all of those years had in common?

I vowed each and every year not to make any more resolutions.

Hmmmmmmm…

Perhaps, I need the fear of failure to limit the amount of failure I’d had in the past.

Smart right?  I think that foil tree on my head was really working some magic.

So while still in her chair I said, “You’re right!  We do need the fear of failure to keep us going and you know what?  I’m resolving right now to get rid of the weight I’ve gained since having these kids of mine. “

As I left the salon my hairdresser and I each challenged each other to lose a pound a week until my next appointment, and that afternoon I went to the bookstore to buy the South Beach Diet book.

Today I started that diet.

And now I am crazy go to the farm and harvest my own wheat to make my own bread and eat the whole loaf in one sitting kind of hungry.

Kill me.  Kill me now.

And remind me that next time the extra terrestrials are beaming things into my brain, that is not a good time to make life-changing decisions.

That is so funny. If you are really looking to drop some of those baby pounds there is a site that my wife uses with amazing results. It is www.sparkpeople.com . It is an amazing site that creates a great family and friends environment that does wonders to create the support group setting. Also right at the moment they are doing a bootcamp challenge with prizes and such if you do it each and every day. Best of look to you with all that you do this New Year.
